Semper Paratus—Always Ready: Celebrating the US Coast Guard

Today, August 4, Learning Without Tears is celebrating our service members in the US Coast Guard. This is a day of recognition for the military branch that protects our waters and shore lines. On this date in 1790, Congress authorized the construction of 10 cutters to enforce US tariff laws. The name “Coast Guard” was first used in 1915.

While we are saluting these men and women that protect us on the water, let’s also take a look at what the sailors on the USS John C. Stennis are up to!
