These active workshops cover implementation best practices for our Get Set for School® complete Pre-K curriculum. Learn to teach developmentally appropriate, hands-on, play-based lessons that excite learners with skill-building activities focusing on:

Learning Outcomes

  • Implement research-based instructional strategies based on development stages for readiness that foster effective instruction, classroom management and reinforce important sensory motor, social-emotional skills, and academic skills
  • Deliver effective, interactive lessons in early literacy, readiness, writing, math, oral language, science, and social studies that encourage student application and carry over skills
  • Facilitate play-based instruction with multimodal and connected learning in whole class and center-based models
  •  Differentiate learning to meet the needs of diverse learners including English language learners and students with disabilities
  • Build and foster a culture of literacy with rich, diverse books
  •  Navigate and leverage the Pre-K Interactive Digital Teaching Tool to bring learning to life and increase student engagement

Length of session: 4 hours

• Recognize the pedagogical approach and daily lesson structure included in the Teacher’s Guide
• Learn how to integrate the Pre-K Interactive Teaching Tool with your students to enhance and support your lessons
• Understand the importance of multisensory, readiness activities and identify developmentally appropriate ways to introduce Wood Pieces Set for Capital Letters and Mat Man
• Experience hands-on materials that teach letter sounds, alphabet knowledge, comprehension, and social-emotional skills

• Learn age-appropriate ways to teach crayon grip and a developmental approach to grow coloring skills
• Understand the importance of the child-friendly progression from letter play, to tracing capitals, to introducing lowercase letters and name writing in title case.
• Experience hands-on materials that teach number sense, geometry skills, patterns, algebra, and social-emotional skills
• Discover ways to boost oral language, vocabulary and literacy skills
